1. Lab 1 write-up scaffold
- HYPOTHESIS — Write your 'if...then...because' hypothesis before starting. State what you expect to observe and why, using scientific vocabulary.
- METHODS — List all materials used (include the timer). Describe each step in past tense. Note how many trials you ran and what you kept constant.
- DATA TABLE — Create a table with column headers and units. Record raw data for every trial. Add a 'Qualitative Observations' column for things you noticed that are not numerical.
- ANALYSIS — Calculate averages for your quantitative data. Compare results across trials. Did your data show a pattern? Explain the mechanism using course vocabulary.
- CONCLUSION — (1) Was your hypothesis supported? State your evidence. (2) Name two specific sources of error (not just 'human error'). (3) Connect your findings to one environmental science concept from BIO 1110 or this companion.
